MCV Campus Rec & Aquatic Center is closed through Mon,1/22, due to major HVAC system leak. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working with contractors and VCU FMD to repair as quickly as possible. We tentatively expect to reopen Tue, 1/ 23. This is subject to change. Each month, we focus on a different wellness theme, and offer informative workshops, presentations events and one-on-one conversations related to the monthly theme. January: New Year, New You

We encourage you to live holistically by making daily choices that energize the body, mind, and spirit. This month let's go on a journey to discover what matters to you, by becoming self-reflective and intentional in your actions to live a healthy and active life! Stop by our free Welcome Back to Wellness events to learn more about how to make 2018 a healthy year!

We'll be in the Cary Street Gym Lobby, January 16, 4 - 6 p.m.and Hunton Student Center, January 17, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Optional: Register for our raffle of a VCU Rec Sports Fitness Bag for the location you'll be attending. 

Do you know what the 8 Dimensions of Wellness are? Find out by joining us at our New Year, New You: Goals for Optimal Wellbeing events. We'll review the 8 Dimensions of Wellness, discuss how to use the transtheoretical model to assist you with your wellness plan, recognize barriers to exercise and set realistic expectations.

We'll be offering free New Year, New You mini-consultations in the Cary Street Gym Lobby, January 25, 5 - 6 p.m., and at Hunton Student Center, January 31, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

February: Love Your Health

Why is your health important? How can Rec Sports assist me with my health? Learn more about our Wellness programs and services that can help you fall back in love with your health! We'll review research about nutrition, exercise, and wellness, discuss how important your health is to your mind, and recognize what you can do for your overall health.

Join us for free Love Your Health mini-consultations in the Cary Street Gym Lobby on February 6, 6 - 7 p.m. and at Hunton Student Center, February 14, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

On February 14, 12-1 p.m. at Hunton Student Center, Rec Sports massage therapist Samantha Young will offer a workshop on the benefits of self-massage and demonstrate self-massage techniques that can be used to reduce stress, relieve tension, and promote overall well-being. If you would like to receive an email reminder, for this event register here. Drop-ins are welcome! 


March: Smart Body 

March 11-31, we're teaming up with Motivation Alliance for the Smart Body Challenge to help you to focus on the physical aspects of wellness: nutrition, exercise, mindfulness and stress relief. Each week, we'll send you tips on how to live a healthier life! Register for the Smart Body Challenge here

Stop by our  Smart Food, Smart Body mini-consultation, and learn how exercise can affect how you eat, your stress levels and your mind/body connection. We'll also give you tips on exercise and nutrition, stress and mindfulness.

April: Find Your Balance

It'almost the end of the year! Are you feeling the need to find your balance between school, work, and home life? We will be available to provide Find Your Balance Mindful Workouts mini-consultations to understand the importance of the mind/body connection and understand how physical activity affects your outlook on life. You'll also get tips on how to create your workouts mindfully.
