Wellness Calendar of Events

Spring 2018 Events

Each month, we focus on a different wellness theme, and offer informative workshops, presentations events and one-on-one conversations related to the monthly theme. Check out what's coming up and then scroll down to our Google calendar at the bottom of this page for a full listing of where we'll be! 

February: Love Your Health

Why is your health important? How can Rec Sports assist me with my health? Learn more about our Wellness programs and services that can help you fall back in love with your health! We'll review research about nutrition, exercise, and wellness, discuss how important your health is to your mind, and recognize what you can do for your overall health.

Join us for free Love Your Health mini-consultations in the Cary Street Gym Lobby on February 6, 6 - 7 p.m. and at Hunton Student Center, February 14, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

On February 14, 12-1 p.m. at Hunton Student Center, Rec Sports massage therapist Samantha Young will be available to discuss the benefits of self-massage and demonstrate self-massage techniques that can be used to reduce stress, relieve tension, and promote overall well-being. If you would like to receive an email reminder, for this event register here. Drop-ins are welcome! 


March: Smart Body 

March 11-31, we're teaming up with Motivation Alliance for the Smart Body Challenge to help you to focus on the physical aspects of wellness: nutrition, exercise, mindfulness and stress relief. Each week, we'll send you tips on how to live a healthier life!

What is Motivation Alliance? An online tool to assist you with your Wellness Needs. 

An information session will be held on February 27 in the Cary Street Gym Wet Classroom from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Snacks will be provided.

Stop by our  Smart Food, Smart Body mini-consultation, and learn how exercise can affect how you eat, your stress levels and your mind/body connection. We'll also give you tips on exercise and nutrition, stress and mindfulness.

April: Find Your Balance

It'almost the end of the year! Are you feeling the need to find your balance between school, work, and home life? We will be available to provide Find Your Balance Mindful Workouts mini-consultations to understand the importance of the mind/body connection and understand how physical activity affects your outlook on life. You'll also get tips on how to create your workouts mindfully.

Catch us at Hunton Student Center, April 4, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m, and Cary Street Gym Lobby, April 9, noon - 1 p.m.
