Open Recreation Activities

When you come to our facilities to work out, swim, or play ball on a drop-in basis, you're participating in Open Recreation. There are lots of activities to choose from, no registration required! Here's a quick rundown of what VCU Rec Sports has to offer: 

Both facilities: 

Fitness Centers - cardio, free weight, strength training equipment - available during all open hours

Aquatics Centers - swimming, spa - available during all open pool hours

GymnasiumsScheduled open rec times for volleyball, badminton, table tennis and basketball

Racquetball - 2 courts at Cary Street Gym, 3 courts at MCV Campus Rec Center - Reserve online

Cary Street Gym:

Indoor track - available during all open hours

Climbing Wall - boulder available during all open hours, wall availability posted here

MACScheduled open rec times for various activities 

Group Ex Studio A & B  - Visit our Group Exercise Schedule. Open conditioning time available between classes 

Mind Body Studio - Open time available between classes 

MCV Campus Recreation & Aquatic Center

Squash Courts -2 courts - Reserve online

Power Training Room - available during all open hours

Mat Room - available during all open hours

Thalhimer Tennis Center

Recreational Sports Guidelines regarding unsanctioned training and teaching in facilities

Organized activities that are conducted during informal recreation hours, which are not sponsored by Recreational Sports, will not be permitted in any of the facilities without special permissions.
a. Only Recreational Sports Personal Fitness Trainers are allowed to train patrons in facilities
b. Only Recreational Sports Fitness Instructors or persons authorized by Recreational Sports professional staff may lead activities or teach classes.
c. Only Recreational Sports Water Safety Instructors are allowed to teach swim lessons in facilities
