Yoga Day - March 29
Join us for a day full of yoga at Cary Street Gym. Our instructors will highlight unique and special types of yoga in a variety of classes throughout the day.
7:30 - 8:30 a.m.
Come flow to a playlist of musical powerhouses (from Beyonce to Maggie Rogers, Aretha Franklin to Joni Mitchell). The class will focus on inner and outer strength as we channel our own inner powerhouse.
8:45 - 9:45 a.m.
Learn all about the seven chakras from your root to your crown! This class will help you understand the importance of each chakra that connects to our physical and mental body. Come for an experience that will bring energy and balance back into the body.
Release and Restore
10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Let go of your stress in restorative yoga! Come find comfort in your asanas or poses with the use of props to help ease the body into a state of total relaxation, while using the breath as a tool to bring a soft focus to the mind.
Energize Power Yoga
11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Wake up your inner warrior with this energizing Power Yoga class. This class will bring you into the present with an invigorating flow designed to tone, strengthen and lengthen the muscles. Come prepared to challenge yourself and celebrate all your body can do! Some yoga experience is recommended, but modifications will be provided for all.
2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Put your balance skills to the test and become one with the board with stand up paddleboard yoga! Falling in just means you’re giving it your all! We will be practicing a vinyasa style flow on top of stand up paddle boards in the pool and will be taking pose requests for more detailed instruction.
3:15 - 4:15 p.m.
Accompanied by essential oil diffusers, leave your worries at the door as you enter into a therapeutic setting with a vinyasa flow. These relaxing and delicious scents will allow us to practice poses using pranayama or “breath work” and will end with essential oils on the temple.
4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Come out for a vinyasa-based power yoga class! We will build heat in the body by harnessing the link between breath and movement. This class will build off sun salutations to build our inner fire, and progress into strength and balancing postures. Anybody looking to build up their inner fire and an organic sweat is welcome to join!
5:45 - 6:45 p.m.
Walk the line between consciousness and a sleep-like relaxation with this course in Yoga Nidra. With a full guided meditation, we will spend our hour in an intentional savasana to reduce tension and anxiety. We will find a deeper connection with our subconscious selves through deep breathing, mantra repetition, and a withdrawal from the senses.
7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Come hang out upside down! We’ll be doing some drills and prep, and then working on getting our feet off the ground in this inversion excursion class. Some yoga experience recommended, but modifications will be offered.

Ram Strength Powerlifting Event - April 27
Saturday, April 27, 2019, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
VCU Rec Sports is hosting its first ever Ram Strength Powerlifting Meet! Compete against your peers for bragging rights as the strongest at VCU. Trophies and prizes will be given to 1st and 2nd place. New to Powerlifting and want to gain some more experience before the competition? Check out our Intro to Powerlifting Instructional Programs. This class will prepare you for the meet and leads right up to competition day!
