"As a group fitness instructor, I was overjoyed to go into work each day. I had the pleasure of having a direct positive impact on the patrons I saw every day. It was a special experience." - Marwa Eltaib, former Group Ex Instructor.

"I have had patrons come up to me before class stating that they were really nervous, have never done a group exercise class before and were concerned about their skill level. I assured them that everyone starts somewhere, that you're already one step closer to becoming stronger by being here." - N-Bushie Chambers, Group Ex Instructor

"It is ingrained and taught into the mind of a Group Exercise Instructor here at VCU, to ensure every single patron is able to perform to their best ability, and to offer variations and suggestions to help aid each person in the class. In addition, group fitness is all about motivating and inspiring each other to push each other to the limits. There are always high fives, “good jobs”, “keep it ups” and a nice pat on a back, no matter how the workout turnout was." - Ann Yu, Group Ex Instructor.

“I had a patron come up to me before the class started and say they were getting back into exercising because of personal reasons...Now this patron is a regular participant and has reached the goal of finishing my class on a positive note.” -Elsie Djemmal, Group Ex Instructor

"I had a patron that had come up to me before the class started and said how they're getting back into exercising because of personal reasons, but "can't dance." I gave the patron some positive commentary and suggestions that encouraged the patron to exceed their comfort zone. The patron ended up leaving early. The next class the patron came back and told me why they left and how their goal for this day was to finish my entire class and asked for suggestions to maintain that goal. I had suggested to continue to modify to the best of the patron’s ability. After every class the same patron speaks with me about how each class gets better and better. Now this patron is a regular participant and has reached the goal of finishing my class on a positive note." - Eslie Djemmal, Group Ex Instructor.
