OAP Weekly activities are free for VCU Students and Rec Sports members. Register early as these trips fill up quickly!

Activity Description Day 

Climbing Skills Clinics 

Learn some new skills! Course offerings will include: sport climbing, trad climbing, anchor building etc.. Climbing Skills Clinics are available at varying times and days of the week, and are listed monthly on the OAP Calendar.

Adaptive Climbing

A night devoted to climbing for everybody. We will have systems and wall staff there specifically for people who need adaptive assistance. If you have an amputated limb, are in a wheelchair, or use specific medical devices for your daily living, come and experience the vertical realm of the Cary St Climbing Wall.

Stand Up PaddleBoarding  Spend the afternoon Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) on one of Richmond’s local waterways. Our knowledgeable instructors will help teach the basics of stability, balance and maneuvering. Discover for yourself why this fun and exciting sport is taking off.

Kayak Roll Clinic

Join the OAP paddling crew on Tuesday nights at the MCV Campus Aquatic Center to learn basic self-rescue techniques, paddle strokes and the all-important C-to-C Roll!

Mountain Bike Rides Lets Ride! Come by the ORC and meet up with others who are looking to get on the trail. The OAP cycling staff will be there to help lead the ride. This ride is open for all abilities. Bring your own bike or use one of ours!

Kayak River Clinic Join our ACA certified instructors and experience what Whitewater Kayaking is all about. Trips will take place on the upper section of the falls of the James River. Come learn paddling techniques while navigating class I-II rapids. No experience required (except basic swimming skills) but we suggest attending a Tuesday night roll clinic beforehand.

Rafting Clinic Come whitewater rafting on the mighty and historic James River! This is an excellent afternoon trip for beginners as well as seasoned rafters and it is just a step away from downtown Richmond. Come enjoy the excitement of urban whitewater and the serenity of local wildlife.
