Outdoor Adventure Program

The Outdoor Adventure Program serves VCU students, faculty, staff, alumni and guests by providing low-cost outdoor activity-based trips, including whitewater rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, canoeing, caving, hiking, backpacking and skiing.

Equipment Rental

The Outing Rental Center (ORC) offers low rental rates on items such as backpacks, sleeping bags, tents, stoves, coolers, and canoes. More

Trips and Activities

The OAP calendar includes all trips and weekly activities. Check it out, then stop by the Outing Rental Center to register. 


OAP also manages the climbing/bouldering wall and Student Outdoor Leadership Program (SOLE), and offers other opportunities to learn about and enjoy the outdoors.

Weekly Activities

Learn a new skill, take a local adventure and enjoy the outdoors with OAP for free.


Low-cost trip offerings include wilderness medicine, caving, climbing, cycling, hiking and backpacking, and more.

Bike Shop

The OAP Bike Shop is a free resource available to VCU students, faculty, and staff. We offer bike repair workshops as well as one on one instruction by trained bike mechanics.

Leadership Program

This 9 month long training is the foundation of the OAP tips program and is designed to provide opportunities for skill development, personal growth, and leadership experience for potential OAP student leaders.
