American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification Course

 


Join us to learn how to be a lifeguard:

  • learn skills and knowledge necessary to prevent aquatic emergencies
  • learn skills and knowledge necessary to respond to aquatic emergencies
  • increase your critical thinking and decision making skills

Prerequisites:

  • successfully complete the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training prerequisites for Lifeguard Training
  • swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing
  • tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs
  • complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds
  • positive attitude
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training participant's manual (Personal computers or other electronic devices are not allowed in the classroom).

To receive American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid/CPR & AED for Lifeguard certifications:

  • you must complete the above prerequisites on the first day of the course
  • attend and participate in the entire course
  • successfully complete all reading assignments
  • successfully complete skills and written tests.

February 17 - 26 (Fri 5:00 - 10:00 p.m., Sat/Sun 12:00 - 6:00 p.m.)  Register

May 15 - 20 (Mon - Fri 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)  Register

Cost: 

  • VCU Student: $100
  • Rec Sports Member:$175 
  • Non-Member: $225
